Having a plan ~ Making a summer schedule

Schedules can make you feel happy and organized or can totally stress you out. I am typically a pretty laid back person who likes to be flexible with my schedule, but I also see the value in having something laid out to give you some form of structure.

I decided to make a summer schedule for the boys just to give us something to go by. Some days we might just pack up and head to the beach (like we did Wednesday) but for the days we are home, having something to go by is really helpful. It can just really help you feel like you have a plan.

It’s lets them sleep in until 8, but they have to get up and get ready for the day. That includes making sure all their laundry is put away. (sadly, this also includes making sure that their mom as done said laundry!)
It is great having Adam work from home, so we are able to have family prayer time every morning at 9. We start out just being able to talk about stuff from the day before…NBA draft, sports news, soccer practices, and other super important stuff. ha! Then we all pray together. Starting off our day this way has made such a difference!
They go outside for an hour, but it also includes playing in the barn if they want. They can ride the go-cart, play soccer, basketball, whiffle ball or just act like crazy boys. Then they need to have some time that is kind of chill. They can read, play legos, draw, play board games, or today they were working on a 1,000 piece puzzle.
The rest of the day depends on the day. Today we went to a couple antique stores in the afternoon. Since we live so close to lakes, the beach and the new sports facility at our church (beach volleyball, gaga and basketball) I’m sure that we will have no problem finding an afternoon activity! Yesterday afternoon, Riley and I made some lemonade together…they both really enjoy cooking and baking so I will have to take advantage of that!
The boys are starting to think about fall soccer, so they are going to have to put in some exercise time as well.
We like to leave the rest of the afternoon open to party all up in here.
Including dance parties in the kitchen, eating ice cream before dinner and whatever other crazy things we feel like doing.
