We shop at thrift stores, craigslist and yard sales. My boys have tons of fun with 3 dollar purchases from Savers.
When you come over to visit you can take your shoes off. Or keep them on. You can put your feet on the coffee table. Or not. You can break the lamp and I will be out 2 bucks. It’s just the way we roll around here. We try to make everything in our home replaceable, because we want people to be totally and completely comfortable. We don’t want you to worry that you didn’t put a coaster under your glass, or be nervous that you knock something over. Sit on the arm of the chair, eat in the living room, throw a ball around in the dining room. Life was meant to be lived. And it was meant to be lived to the full.
Don’t get me wrong, I love buying nice things. And I love decorating and putting out fancy dishes. But the only difference is that I probably dug around in a box at a yard sale for those fancy dishes, and I probably got the table and chairs off craigslist.
Things are replaceable. And that’s the way we live. We are so not fancy. But we love living life, and living it to the full. Laugh loudly, dance like crazy and sing at the top of your lungs. That’s the way things go down at the Chase house. And I kind of like it that way.
